Luciana (and all),
I completely agree that most often the popular arts do
not make for the most interesting (hoping to not
sounds elitist). I suppose my point was that artists
should take steps to promote their work in ways that
invites people to download their work. The more people
that "own" it, the more likely some will want to save
it when the plug-ins are gone. It isnt that I dont
trust institutions to do the saving. I've just found
that the most interesting creations, programs and the
like in the digital world have come from independent
operators. The open source movement has thrived on
this type of dissemination of code.
